Pets, Dogs, Puppies! Oh My!

So I was looking at my friend Lindsey's blog and she did a blog post about what kind of dog she wants when she gets her own house/apartment and it got me thinking. What kind of dog would I want?? I've grown up with dogs. I had a huge Golden Retriever named Zach as a kid and now my family has a Yellow Lab named Zoe. (We like Z names apparently.)

I have always loved dogs, well big dogs. I'm not one of those people who really likes the little dogs you can fit in your hand or in a purse (seriously, why would you do that??) So I'm making a list of the types of dogs I would love to own in the future. I probably won't own all of them, but in the off chance I marry a farmer and own a huge piece of land, I'm prepared. I'm also including the possible names for each dog. I've done that for my future kids' names, so why not my future dogs?

Number 1 is a Yellow Lab. What's not to love about Labs? They're friendly, energetic and great family dogs. I know this is one dog I will have in the future, maybe even multiple times. When I get a Lab, I will get a girl and name her Casey.

Number 2 is a Red Golden Retriever. Yes red. My Golden Retriever as a kid was this gorgeous red color and I've wanted one ever since. This is another dog I know I will own. When I get a Golden Retriever, I will get a boy and name him Cooper.

Number 3 is a Rottweiler. Say what you will about this dog, but I love them. I know sometimes they're scary, but if they're trained properly they are amazingly friendly dogs. If I get a Rottweiler, I will get a boy and name him Rex.

Number 4 is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. Do you see a theme here? I think I might like the retriever dogs. But they're just so cute! If I get a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, I will get a girl and name her Chessy. (clever, right?)

Number 5 is a Bernese Mountain Dog. I first saw this dog when I was in New York City on a mission trip. We were in Central Park and a guy with our group saw the dog and started playing with it. It was so cute! I fell in love. They look like big teddy bears. If I get a Bernese Mountain Dog, I will get a girl and name her Lyla.

Number 6 is a German Shepherd. Again, these dogs are sometimes scary, but I love them. They would be an incredible watch dog if I ever lived alone. If I get a German Shepard, I will get a boy and name him Jensen.

Favorite TV Shows

This is a list of some of my favorite TV shows. These are shows that I can watch over & over and never get tired of them.

1. One Tree Hill. If you know me well, you know I have a slight obsession with this show. I can watch this show everyday and never get tired of it.

2. Supernatural. I got into this show about 2 years ago. It's a darker show, but I love it.

3. ER. This show isn't on the air anymore, but that doesn't mean it's any less amazing. But I only like seasons 1-7.

4. Pretty Little Liars. I blame my friends at Longwood for getting me into this show. This show is so addicting! You never know what's gonna happen.

5. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. This show may be difficult to watch for some people, but I can't get enough of it. I think in another life I could be like Olivia Benson. Call me crazy, but I LOVE this show!

6. Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. This is a show that most people have never heard of. But my whole family loves it. Hence the reason we have every season on DVD.

Favorite Quotes

So I haven't blogged in a while...my bad. So for my latest blog post I decided to tell you guys some of my favorite quotes. It's been a tradition for me to have quotes, bible verses, sayings, etc. on my dorm wall since my sophomore year. My proom (previous roomie) Mallory and I wrote our favorite quotes from TV shows and movies, our favorite bible verses, favorite sayings, or whatever on post-it notes on our wall. I loved it so much, so I've continued it since then.

So here we go...

Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, stumble and fall because most of the time the greatest rewards come from doing things that scare you the most. Maybe you’ll get more than you could have ever imagined. Who knows where life will take you. The road is long and in the end the journey is the destination.

Stepping up. It’s a simple concept. It basically means to rise above yourself; to do a little more, to show you something special.

Now is the time for us to shine. The time when our dreams are within reach and possibilities vast. Now is the time for all of us to become the people we have always dreamed of being. This is your world. You're here. You matter. The world is waiting.

But those who wait on the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
           Isaiah 40:31

We can't take credit for our talents. It's how we use them that counts.

Where words fail, music speaks.

10 things...

So I haven't updated in a LONG time. Sorry. I kinda stole this idea from Lindsey :)

Ten things that make me happy (in no particular order):

1) Hearing a new song and becoming so obsessed with it that it becomes your most played song on iTunes
2) Being able to sit for 2 hours with friends in d hall and have the best, most awkward conversations ever (*cough* Lindsey, Anne Claire, Ashley, and Rosita. *cough*)

3) When someone takes a picture of you and you love how you look in it
4) Finding a Bible verse that totally speaks to you and you know that God is answering your prayers
5) When little things happen to you that shouldn't and you go "God is looking out for me"
6) When you're having a bad day and you see chocolate :)
7) When you find out your class is cancelled
8) When you sit with your friends and find out that EVERYTHING you say is a that's what she said joke :)
9) When you sing a song and hit the notes perfectly
10) When you see someone that you haven't seen in a long time and run an tackle them because you missed them so much :)

Dear roommate who will not be named...

I just have a few things to say to you:

1) I don't appreciate the fact that your boyfriend has been here EVERY weekend since the beginning of the semester. Can you not go to his school once? And secondly, how is he paying for gas to drive the two plus hours back and to school? I know we have our own rooms, but it makes me uncomfortable that he's always there.
2) I don't mind you using the things I brought for the kitchen, however I do have a problem with you leaving them in the sink for weeks at a time with food drying on them and letting them rust. I end up having to wash YOUR crap so that MY stuff doesn't rust. You are 21 years old. You should be able to wash out your crap and put it in the dishwasher! You don't even have to wash it by hand, we have a dishwasher! Just put it in the frickin' dishwasher!!
3) LOCK THE FRONT DOOR!! I know we're on the third floor, however it makes me super nervous that someone can just up and walk into our apartment because you don't lock it and take something.
4) I know that you took my tissues! I'm not stupid! I know they're tissues but you went in my room and took something without asking. If you needed the tissue box all you had to do was ask. I would have gladly given it to you...
5) You are not the only person living in the apartment!! Slamming the door at 12:30 am wakes people up!!
6) I did not appreciate the ambush with the "can she move in?' girl. It was totally rude and inconsiderate. Of course I have to say yes, she standing right there!

I really hope you are a better roommate to the next girls that move in...

Sincerely,
Roommate who is so excited to move out in two weeks!!

Ok I'm done ranting now. I feel better :)
